Bruxing Success
Last night, I was sitting in the shower with the girls. I almost regret not getting a video of it, that’s how much fun they seemed to be having! They were performing acrobatic, flying leaps from my shoulders to my knees to the other end of the shower and back; they were climbing up my arms, over my shoulders and into my hair (Paris even settled down on top of my head a couple times); they were chewing on my loose-fitting PJ pants, and climbing up my pants and into my sweatshirt; etc.
After a little bit of this, they started chittering their teeth really, really loudly. New mommy nerves nipped me in the bud again, worrying me that something was up or I was doing something wrong with ‘em, but someone informed me that this sound, and what I call the “happy eyes” (boggling), is called “bruxing,” and that it’s the rat equivelant to a cat’s purring. I’d heard of this, but had never heard it, if that makes sense.
I guess I’m just feeling really accomplished and on top of the world right now because of it. It’s the first time since I got them last Wednesday that they’ve done that and the first time we’ve actually played like that. Hoorah for bonding, because it’s totally made my day!
