24-Hours Time
Got home at 6:00. Ran up the stairs to see my girlies to be met with their small faces peering through the bars of their r680, their little hands clutching the wires as they climbed up towards the door. Of course, the moment I reached the door, they scampered off under their favourite shelf, but they quickly came back out to sniff my hand when I reached inside the cage. London’s a nibbler and sometimes has to be corrected with a sharp “ahah!” when she gets too mouthy, but Paris is a momma’s girl; she’s London’s polar opposite in the sense she’s a “chubby” cuddler whereas London is a handshy whirlwind.
I set up a playpen in my shower after some time watching and stroking the girls - put a box for them to climb on, some treats underneath it, a towel to cover the drain and one to burrow in, a tupperware container with some yoghurt and rice puffs and a toilet paper roll - and let them in for about twenty minutes to get used to/comfortable with the area. Then I got in the shower and sat still for them to come to me; they explored me within a few minutes. Paris climbed up my arm and burrowed in my hair while London climbed into and over my lap, let me touch her a few times, but for the most part, was cautious of me. She’s going to need quite a bit of work and some TLC, but I’m determined and confident I can handle it.
I also spoke with an animal communicator, and she gave me some suggestions for how to help London and Paris and gave me an understanding of London’s fears and anxieties. Good to have on hand, as I can definitely use it in my training of her.
