A Generous Gift!
So the 500.00 ended up being a gift, and though I thanked him through e-mail several times over, I feel I haven’t done enough to show him exactly how much I appreciated the money. Now, I not only have the money to pay off what I owe, but the money to acquire what I need from PetSmart and to pay for the boys themselves - and in the end, will probably have some left over! My only predicament now is to determine if it’s PetSmart I want to go to or another local shop, and whether or not I want to order online or go in store…
On another note entirely, I’m waiting on an adoption application from one of the ratteries I contacted, and we’re discussing further details through e-mail. It might be possible for me to meet her halfway, or otherwise to set up said “rat train” to meet me halfway, as well. I also inquired as to whether or not she’d recommend any NorCal breeders, so it’ll be interesting to hear back from her, as she was a recommend (by several people) rattery; thus, I trust her judgment. I’m also on the waiting list for another rattery and am excited to see all upcoming litters!
The GooseMoose forums came through for me again. I’ve got a couple new ideas/suggestions for bedding. One person recommended the Yesterday’s News version of cat litter, and another recommended using fleece with linoleum or placemats underneath. She did say to make sure the liners were in before the rats were introduced to the cage. Reason? The rats might not feel any differently to the fleece than if they’d stepped on wire bars; in their mind, the fleece is just another part of the cage. Seeing as I like the look of the liners, I’ll definitely be testing out this idea, and if my boys prove to be chewers, then I’ll consider the recommended cat litter.
I also found some really cute Scooby-Doo fabric, and sent an inquiry in for a quote and to see if she’s able to make bonding pouches. I already ordered a bonding pouch in Lion King fabric, but the Scooby-Doo material was too cute to pass up! I either need to learn to stop looking at fabrics, to stop browsing the Pack Rat Swap Meet forum on GooseMoose or learn to make hammocks and such myself! Saves me the cost of shipping and someone else’s effort, though I do say, all my purchases so far have been worth it - and I haven’t even received them yet!
